The Challenge

Julie Cate Christman's work is defined by honest observation, human connection and a refined editorial sensibility. The challenge was to translate this distinctive photographic language into a digital experience without allowing the interface to compete with the imagery. The website also needed to organise an extensive and growing body of work, communicate Julie's international practice and provide an intuitive path for prospective clients, all while remaining effortless for her team to update.

The Solution

Working in close collaboration with Natalia from Kaer Studio, who led the design, we translated the creative direction into a bespoke, responsive website that places Julie's photography at the centre of the experience. Restrained typography, spacious compositions and carefully considered motion create the feeling of browsing an editorial publication, while the Selected Work, Archive and Journal offer different ways to discover her practice. Built with a flexible Sanity content system, the website allows Julie's team to manage and expand the portfolio independently without compromising the integrity of the design.
